How accurate is this to the comic series?
I want binge it all but I'm in the process of reading the comics from the first issue.
I know it'll bring in a few things like Flash, Carnage but wondering if it'll spoiler the comics much

How are the other Marvel cartoons from that era?
I remember X-Men trying to copy their stuff from comics that had the Claremont era but I'm wondering if they did it as terrible as Spiderman from the few episodes I remember

Not very. They get the broad stroke details down, but it’s pretty divergent in some places. Like having Hobgoblin come before Green Goblin. Stuff like that.

As a Mysterioposter, oddly enough I think a modern aspect of Mysterio's character was lifted from TAS, but I won't elaborate further in light of spoilers.
Still, it's a rather minor part of Mysterio and it is very much an "inspiration" from TAS rather than a direct adaptation or lift from it.

Most of the direct adaptations it does are very broad strokes so you aren't missing much. Closest it gets is Secret Wars but minus the black suit stuff and with like half the cast missing

Surprisingly though, I think most new Spider-man media uses the cartoon origin for Venom rather than the Secret Wars origin, which makes sense given the circumstances.

The best comics were the John Romita Jr and late Steve Ditko comics. That are what the series took inspiration from

this was in the comics at the time. though the de-aging only lasted one arc, Vulture has been anxious about his age ever since the writers started taking him seriously.

ASM #100-102 are pretty much Neogenetic Nightmare. The series just padded it to 14 episodes by loosely adapting a shit ton of other arcs.

It is in parts. It goes off on some very weird tangents and directions that are pretty interesting. Felicia Hardy is the daughter of a billionaire industrialist who created Doc Ock, Black Cat is her after she takes the same super soldier serum that created Captain America, Electro and the Chameleon are Red Skull's children, Hobgoblin was created by Norman Osborn BEFORE he became the Green Goblin, they do an early version of the Clone Saga where MJ is combined with the DNA of Hydroman, who's her stalker in this version. It's the only Spidey adaptation you'll ever see with Rocket Racer and the Big Wheel in it.

but not nearly as much as Spectacular did, where nearly every villain is created by osborn and octavius as an intentional distraction for spider-man so they can do more mundane organized crime on the side with fucking Tombstone of all people. (so many weird choices made by dumb restrictions from the higher-ups saying can't use this character or that one. hobgoblin appeared first in old spider-man because of a simple mistake on a piece of paper that they were then stuck with)

The cartoon started in 1994, at the time, it was still comic canon that the first Hobgoblin was Ned Leeds. The cartoon used Jason Macendale as he was the current Hobgoblin in the comics, unmasking him in a 1996 episode. The cartoon combined elements of both Hobgoblins into one character. The comic that revealed Kingsley as the Hobgoblin was published in 1997, while the cartoon only featured Hobgoblin one more time, in the final 2-part story broadcast in 1998.

Like a lot of character decisions in the 1994 cartoon, it was because of the toys. There was a Hobgoblin figure before a Green Goblin figure, and they were told to do episodes in the first season showcasing the Hobgoblin Wing Bomber and Tri-Spider Slayer toys as they were the bigger items in the line.

Not very. There are some beats that are similar, but I think it largely had its own twist on things.

For example, its version of The Night Gwen Stacy Died involves Mary Jane instead and she gets sent to The Next Dimension from Ocean Dub Dragon Ball Z instead of dying. Same with Norman.

This series was my first introduction to Venom and it remains probably my favorite iteration. The fact that he psychologically torments Peter just as much as he fucks with him physically just added to the threat. Stalking him throughout the city, meeting up with MJ, and visiting Peter at home was unsettling.
