>>110579766>How so?Not him, but the Plumbers being turned from and Earth Defense Force to generic goody two shoes space cops was definitely a step down. One of the best things about the Plumbers in the OS was how contrary to Ben’s idealization of them, you could see the darker, more grim and desperate edge to them through Max’s Flashbacks, descriptions, and Omissions. They weren’t big damn heroes in capes or donut-munching goody two shoes coppers, they were men and women, living double lives fighting multiple secret wars against enemies unknown on battlefields too close to home to accept failure. It allowed them to feel more nuanced and the setting larger and more interesting, and gave them more potential to be used, without being weighed down moralism. And the existence of a faction that wasn’t black and white good or evil, but just out to keep earth protected, whatever the cost, was actually closer to the Serious tone that Alien Force and Ultimate Alien were going for than they’re plumbers were.
As for Kevin being an Alien, it’s just plain bad writing to make every event of interest in the story tie back to one explanation. Some writers do this, thinking that it makes this chosen aspect seem super important and awesome, but all it does is make their setting feel small and cloistered. Like nothing would ever happen without this one thing.
Mate I actually liked Alien Force somewhat, and don’t really care for Omniverse for that matter, but you have face facts and admit that the Writers after the OS fucked up, and squandered what could have been so much better.
