You're of course allowed to do either but obviously the former will alienate a portion the fanbase, how could it not? You either have people uninterested in that specific political sphere, people who don't agree with it, or people intentionally going to your fantasy world to avoid it, and now its been presented despite that, and as a result horribly dates it. Look back to any political comedy from 5 years ago and its staggering how little connects now, which of course makes sense because its a CURRENT topic, not a future topic.
