apparently it's because there's a huge wave of obesity in mexican kids so in order to fight it back they banned mascots for unhealthy products so they don't attract kids into buying them so they stop being overweight.
I don't know if this is actually backed up by data or not... But personally, I think the problem is that most kids aren't supervised enough due to mexican economy being an absolute disaster for decades, which makes parents have to find more ways to work, which means less time parenting, which means kids just shove food down their mouth without anyone stopping them, or if they're around they're too exhausted to even try. This removal of mascots is just putting a bandaid on the problem which is the economy.>>120793757
i don't think sjws have anything to do here, this idea has been bouncing around in congress for more than a decade, around the time people started noticing this children obesity problem in mexico.
