>>110470132>>110470353To clarify, when that anon means "early Sonic", he was not kidding.
Fleetway Sonic is a continuation of the *OG* Sonic merch bible designed by SEGA of America that debuted in a promotional mini-comic they put out at the release of Sonic 1 and then quickly abandoned with the release of those kiddie books that had Sonic and Robotnik raised by Uncle Chuck and introduced the FF, which was then carried over to SatAm which then carried over to Archie.
So not only do you have to forget about all the Japanese stuff, but also all the Mobius stuff most folks associate with Western Sonic.
It's been a while since I read it but if I had to break down the premise of this version, it's like those old comic strips based on video games that you would find in game magazines from the 90's...mostly it WAS a comic strip from a UK game magazine in the 90's:
Imagine if Sonic's world was based nothing else but screen shots of the games and the story from the manuals. Where;s the only good guys are Sonic, Tails and the little critters you rescue from the capsules and they fight Robotnik, who shares a sci-fi origin with Sonic.
Then Robotnik pulls an Aku and they all go to the Bad Future, where said critters turn into a weird looking, leather wearing Freedom Fighters.
Now Sonic and friends have to fight a world taken over by evil that is basically SatAm meets The Genesis games meet a whole lot of weird british comic tropes....and this is before shit gets really weird.
Also Sonic is a massive dick in this...and kinda psychotic. It's really cool.
