Butt Witch is the best part of the show. Everything else is mediocre, minus Reggie, who is awful. If the creators wanted to recreate an immature, impulsive, annoying and selfcentered brat, they succeeded. Congratulations.

From what we've seen her mother has a habit of either pushing maturity onto Reggie a bit too much or making growing up seem awful in some way.
Reggie just decided to say "fuck that, I'm staying a kid forever"
She's happy with where she is (for right now) and is irritated by anything that might change that.

So? Unless she's been under Carry levels of sheltering about what growing up does to a body, you'd think she shouldn't be as afraid as she is. She's not irritated, she's in full denial of everything that might remind her of growing up.

And about her mother indirectly presenting adulthood as something negative... is she the only adult in her life? I get she's growing up without a father, but there must be someone else. Hell, she watches TV, isn't there any grown up role that would make her think, even if it is idealized and unrealistic?

Everyone wants to watch Butt Witch antics. The show should just be about Butt Witch at this point. I think Reggie might just be stupid enough to believe that becoming an adult and growing up means she can’t draw cartoons and play with toys anymore. There's her art teacher who seems to be the closest thing she has to a mentor, but he seems to be more about helping her not be ashamed of expressing her creativity.
The other teachers we've seen don't seem to really be that involved with her.
I don't think anyone's really sat down and talked to her or showed her the positives of growing up.
Plus she mostly watches anime and reads comics/manga, and those are often escapism kinda things.
That, and I personally think she's at least a little bit autistic.

The show should have really revolved around this aspect of Reggie, otherwise it makes every adult around her (and herself) look awful. Her mother is not raising her well enough, her father is gone, her teachers don't really notice obvious behaviour red flags...

Judy, Reggie's mom, is a single parent in a lower-middle income household who's also caring for Dustin. She also apparently only has Kathy for a friend too, so her life is generally unwell and part of it is her fault. It's not terribly uncommon for teachers not to respond to red flags, assuming they do notice.

Mr. Fleming is definitely a good mentor for Reggie. He is the only one to tell her not to let go of her creative side, that she can grow up and still be imaginative and fun. As for Judy, it's not so much that Reggie is afraid of puberty in particular, but more that Judy sometimes makes it seem boring to grow up in general for someone like Reggie. It's a lot of "have to's" not "Want to's" you know? But she is trying her best. She's a single mother to two kids that she has little in common with. Not to mention being a nurse means she's probably working 12 hour shifts 5-6 days a week. Hopefully we'll get to see them bond over something in the future.

The hockey rink one could be explained as him being old enough to use the camera and therefore take that picture. They might have swapped out to get one with him in it and we just didn't see that one for plot reasons. But with this picture he would have been 3-4 depending on Reggie's exact age here. Maybe he was supper enthusiastic about taking a picture and they just let him. Hell maybe he used to be into photography until he snapped a pic of something unexplainable and that led to his conspiracy theory phase.

Reggie is aware of her flaws, and absolutely hates anything that reminds her of them. She loves Endless Island because everyone is there is even dumber and spazzier than she is, so in Endless, she has no shortcomings. Otherwise, she has to be confronted with and reminded with her shortcomings all the time by her parents, family, friends, teachers, and peers. Reggie's story arc is about her overcoming her tendency to deny her personal weaknesses, facing them, and overcoming them. Too bad the chances of a season 2 look grim, because it would have been nice to see her succeed fully instead of partially.

Nothing official about it being canceled, but I wouldn't be surprised if we never got another season. Legend Quest came out in 2017, but it's second season is coming next month of this year. So who knows, maybe out of the blue we'll get news about season 2 next year. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

I imagine it's a lot like everyone has said. It's in a state of limbo as they try to find a crew to actually make the show, deal with red tape, etc. What's important is that this is a definitive statement of it *NOT* being cancelled and dead. It's a reason for us to keep pushing for season two. The Official twitter account has been posting fairly regularly. And the store has new merch. The powers that be are watching and faith and hope for the future of the show needs to be spread among the fans.

Yeah but it's not often enough. She only acts as an overarching antagonist that shows up to put the problems in motion in not even 1/2 of the episode, and of those she also doesn't host a lot of screen time and rather just does something and leaves.

She's a fun character but I think extended exposure to her would shake off some of the appeal. The thing is, BW is pretty damn powerful. Even before the mega form she was able to basically tear through everything in her path. 25 episodes of her just rampaging isn't a good story. She had to be depowered and put on a back burner to allow Reggie's story to progress.

I think the deep man voice reflects the fear of puberty better because people wouldn't get that her voice is supposed to be mature if it actually initially matched her gender. They'd just think "It's a woman" rather than the hyperbole of "It's a woman with a man's voice" that could be a legitimate fear of pubescent girls getting a voice that's far too deep.

Yeah definitely wouldn't say regularly. We have like three examples. The kids not coming to her birthday, the foursquare kids, and that one bully which she shrugged off completely. And that seems to be a key one. The older stuff definitely bothered her, but now that she has some close friends (and possibly because she has Endless), she's more comfortable with herself.

Reggie is exceptional, for once actually is "not like those other girls", and she's a fictional character. The only challenge for her would be to shoot herself at the end to avoid prison, but she has the key so even that is non-issue. Actually I wonder if the key can be used to teleport? Three episodes isn't nearly enough to judge a show, especially when all the episodes are made at the same time. The staff can't go "right, episode 2 wasn't liked, let's just take the show in a different direction next week", shit's impossible. Also a lot of TV goes through growing pains in the first season, it has to figure itself out. By your logic the Simpsons would have been canceled after three episodes and never had the incredible five or six year zenith it had in the early to late 90s. If you're not likin the show though, pull out and then wait for a second season if one comes around, then watch a few episodes of that and compare and contrast. Season 1 of Star VS The Forces of Evil, I found it obnoxious and grating. But then Season 2 came and it almost felt like an entirely different show, I was excited. And then apparently it nosedived for the third and fourth seasons, so that's a shame.

Definitely not to get rid of them. More to trap them. It seems like a "part of the crew, part of the ship" kind of deal. You stay to long you give up your humanity to become part of Endless. Some have also pointed out how the episode was an allegory for college kids who go on a spring break bender. They came back and had weird hangover symptoms, didn't really remember what happened, etc.

Todd and Esther were a lot more crazy than typical residents though. Like they were downright psychotic. What's interesting with Elmer is that he doesn't have an Endless outfit like the others. Maybe Endlessification involves a stage where a person becomes crazy even above the normal standard until "stabilizing" into something closer to your typical islander. Oh yeah! That volcano was the site of her "rebirth" (apparently) and she's not damaged by it at all. Maybe the time she spent in there, dormant, her essence became more and more diluted, lessening her power and memory. Perhaps she was trying to get stronger or use the volcano as a giant brew for something really wicked, like turning the island into a kafkaesque office space nightmare.

Perhaps BW didn't exist before then. Perhaps she is just a creation brewed up by Reggie with her anger, fear, etc when she threw the books into the caldera. Her backstory may be entirely fabricated by the island as a means of giving her purpose and direction. Maybe the spell could be broken in some way. There's a lot of possibility.

Aside from the Price-taker monster, most of the on-island villains seemed to be made animate by the island itself. I don't know if Endless would create a threat like the Butt Witch, as she seems like she could hurt the island.
