The sad truth is anglo protestantism for some reason isn't very conductive to creativity or imagination, I'm not sure why but it's plain to see, specially when considering american literature which sounds like almost a parody of whatever the rest of the world thinks literature should be at any given time. Everything is too "mallcenter baroque" and lacks the real lushfullness of proper baroque (aesthetically, not historically) works.
