Most of the other aspects of this show either have, or are shaping up to be just as disappointing though. Lena is dumped on one of the least necessary characters in the show because god forbid having a less obnoxious female than Webby be a lead in the main cast, the Glomgold bet and villain team up went out with a wet fart, Owlson was nothing but a wet blanket for all of her Screentime, Gabby and the Snarlov brothers don’t even exist anymore despite being in the title sequence, and now the third season brings even more unnecessary and forced Disney references? They second Seasons been better than the first overall, but the good aspects seem to be disappearing going forwards.

I just hope they don't fuck up their reunion. When she reunited with Scrooge, it was very well done. And the boys too although that was a bit rockier because it should have been a harder adjustment for them.

But Donald's had time to process that Della is alive. And Della's been there for over a month so she's pretty much acclimated even with her occasional PTSD. And since there will be an invasion going on I doubt they'll get any time to hug it out and talk it over.

I mean I'm not enraged or anything, I just feel that Rosa's usage of Bombi was one of the highlights of his career's narrative; retroactively turning this tragic figure into a symbol of Scrooge's downfall, of his darker side, of the consequences to be faced if he does not live up to making his fortune square.

To go from such an emblematic event in Scrooge's character to a monster who will blindly follow whoever's the richest just because is one hell of a narrative downgrade.

Scrooge hired some thugs to burn down an African village and drive them out because they wouldn’t sell him their land, so the shaman leader of said village reanimated a Zombie to exact revenge on Scrooge. Scrooge later had a change of heart and was like, “oh shit what did i just do”, but at that point it was to late, so he spends the next few decades of his life running away from Bombie, not because he was damgerous (he wasn’t, all he did was try and give you a splintry doll that would shrink you if it broke skin) but because it represented his guilty conscience made manifest.

I find it a little disappointing that Louie's arc concludes not with him organically losing his newfound fortune via his reckless spending and pure disinterest in actually running a business, but rather because he couldn't deal with Solomon Grundy hunting his ass.

And it almost seemed like this episode backpedaled on any growth from past Louie episodes. Maybe he was overwhelmed by the position or maybe he was still bitter about being grounded, but he felt so bizarrely flippant in this episode like he went back to pilot Louie.

I guess it's functional but it just feels off.

Not really that, but it is clear the whole point behind this show was to make a replacement for Gravity Falls. And for that they needed adventurous kids solving mysteries and fighting monsters as the main focus of the show. But using major recognizable Disney properties to help bring in viewers.

So you got the mystery kids, the sleazy grifter adult who gets them into trouble, the dumb adult sidekick that helps them out, the cool teen girl,

Donald as the overprotective adult does not really fit into this formula at all. He's the one the boys have to get away from to have an adventure, or escape from to not get in trouble.

Personally, I think that they brought her into the story too quickly. The major conflict of season 1 was learning about what happened to her then they decided to bring her back in season 2? Still nobody brought up the boys biological father. It isn't particularly important but somebody should have brought up the topic.

Id have to agree. I worry what they will do will Donald now that Della is in the mix. Will the boys need him now that they have their mom. Scrooge and Donald play off of each other better then Scrooge and Della. I really like what they did with Della as far as ducklore goes but I dont want to see Donald kept out of the show like they did this season. But I do like Della.

I donno. I dont think the show can have both Donald and Della and still have Scrooge and cultivating the boys individual personalitys. ( something that is growing on me. I thought id really hate it. But for a long time the boys have been a hive mind one character then three) One of the underling themes even from the Barks days is Scrooge and Donald battling for the boys souls. The friction between Donald and Scrooge has always been a foundation of the Ducks. It will be interesting how Della plays into that dynamic but I dont want Donald to get sidelined and brought out sparsely like this season.

Jokes and gags were fine and it would have probably been ok as an individual episode. However, the resolution to bring everything back to the status quo felt like a cheap cop-out and this was a really underwhelming way to resolve the season long arcs of Louie Inc., the Glomgold bet, Della's parenting (she barely reacts to Louie ungrounding himself and becoming twice as rich as Scrooge already was through a cheap scheme) and anything they could have done with Scrooge (since he knows that Louie will give him all the money back anyway)
