>>109778343I'm with you there, Anon. It deserves more than it got. Still waiting for a public 1080p upload of it somewhere so I can actually get people to watch it.
>>109778374>>109778465I'm going to assume you just don't know and aren't being intentionally obtuse. For almost the entirety of the 80s, the monsters were real. Ghoul School, Reluctant Werewolf, 13 Ghosts, almost the entire Scrappy era. It became the norm at that point for the monsters to be real and supernatural elements were commonplace. The monsters being real is not what makes Zombie Island or 13 Ghosts special, especially not during the time period it came out in. Just because you didn't watch the Scrappy era, whether you're too young or you just couldn't stomach it, doesn't mean that it didn't happen. To YOU personally, sure, Zombie Island was special and unique among the franchise. You very likely grew up on Where Are You and Pup reruns before seeing Zombie Island. But that's not reality, that's just your own personal experience. The monsters being real is not what made Zombie Island special.
What made Zombie Island special is it was good. They were adults and the stakes were higher. It wasn't just good for Scooby standards, it was actually good. It's funny, well-written, gorgeously animated with a great cast and wonderful characterization. The following three DTVs were also just as good, if not better. And this is after we had to survive the Scrappy era.
I just want people on here to understand that the new movies being boring is infinitely more offensive than the monsters not being real. You're misunderstanding what made 13 Ghosts and Zombie Island so special by focusing on that.
