Also I thought the trans thing was passable, all the articles made it sound way fucking worse and this is so far the one time that it was fine in my opinion. Still prefer if it hadn't been a thing, just that it wasn't as obnoxious as I thought. In general the whole message of change was as heavy handed as I expected as soon as we got the synopsis ages ago. Not as surprised that they kept the adult jokes, thats how the series lives on and Nick is well aware of it, during their 90s block and their social media for it they even share the sex phone hotline scene. Not into her as a furfag (or whatever it'd be for frogs) but it was nice to see chest humor/visual focus again on a basic level.
Looks better than the trailers made me think it would since some shots were so janky. OST is great, backgrounds look good, especially the space ones. That outside the lines style for stuff like them hovering over Earth seemed different though, did Rocko ever do that style in the past?
My video cut out between Ralph biting Bighead's eye and them walking onto the scene at Conglomo in the office, so I didn't get to hear his reveal or the characters liking it, but Bighead's "no" bit was fucking hilarious. Also just as an aside, I thought them still having the vocals from the theme song was interesting.
tl;dr, as much as I was worried and against the idea, the trans shit was passable, for once things turned out better than expected. Kinda by the numbers but nice seeing the characters again. Looking forward to Zim which has a grander scale story and seemingly no message-driven angle. Just good fun like Rocko mostly was.
