Animators are, at most, a combination of special effects artists, illustrators, and actors. Learn how to sell a peformance with conviction above everything else and you'll excel, because god knows there are a lot of animators that just all do the same fucking cookie cutter character acting they got taught in school and never venture from that. There's nothing wrong with that, its an amazing artform, but fucking learn the difference between clear visual storytelling and good writing, because there IS a difference.
If you want to tell stories, but in the fucking work and write for as long as you've drawn first. Draft short stories, get legitimate criticism and deal with it, maybe make some short comics and not some eternal webcomic diatribe that's been done to death ten times over. Hell, maybe even try to get paid to write things for people.
Maybe if you develop this skill you'll be a big dick chad who can do both, and then you'll just need to learn how to sell yourself. But for the rest of you? You're better off swallowing your pride and collaborating instead of taking it for granted that you can do everything.
