This is literally why ANY human being does whatever others may not like.
When you are a godlike reality warper that can remove people from existence altogether, you eventually stop caring about the "NPCs in your gameworld"
Your examples can at least be explained by "they were in distress/gone crazy and snapped". DC's Professor Zoom, for example, was just mad about one guy from a faraway past being more beloved him. He didn't give a shit about time paradoxes, as long as they benefited his goals of pure, unrelentless dickery.
