Left: the atmosphere is red and faded.
Right: the atmosphere is black and saturated.
Different color keys elicit different feelings. If you're going for "generic cartoon", right is better. If you're going for "something is wrong with the world", left is better.

I said this in a previous thread, the new movie has way too soft shading. It needs more contrast. The soft shading is too comforting and safe to fit with Zim's atmosphere and the right image is a perfect example of how it should be done.
