THIS. Bob’s Burgers has pretty impressive worldbuilding and mild continuity, specifically for an episodic FOX animated sitcom.

Did they even say or show anything at Comic-Con? We haven’t seen any visual evidence of a movie actually being in the works since that initial announcement back in late 2017, so I’m starting to get the feeling it’s been shelved.

About half the episodes are done in-house at Bento in the US as well with the others being outsourced, it doesn’t matter much though because the show is so densely storyboarded that the number of boarders on a given episode basically always outnumbers the amount of credited “animators” as the animation process is basically just in-betweens and coloring, half the work is already done in the US regardless

Just pay attention to the “Animation services provided by” credit that gets its’ own slide in the outro, if it says Bento Box then it was a 100% US-made episode. About every other one will list a Korean studio instead but they’re very difficult to tell apart in look beyond some Bento produced episodes (like holiday specials) tending to have more “special animation” fluid moments which is probably more a result of them deliberately choosing episodes with those sorts of scenes to be produced in-house

It's going to be a "musical mystery" which sounds kinda dissapointing since episodes where they are singing and/or sitting in one location trying to solve someting are some of my least favorite episodes. I prefer episodes like stand by gene or where there is actual adventure and danger.

Disney wanted to bury 2d movies. And they did a good job of it by telling the public it 'failed' by the numbers. They thought it would have ended with Princess and the Frog but it actually was successful to the point Disney said they would put out a 2d film every few years. Then they put out the new Pooh that seemed like it was a direct to video their film and decided to get stars to voice the characters instead of the ones from new adventures or the other movies.

Pooh was better then that, those "DTV tier" films (which were released in theaters mind you) were animated in Japan when 2011 Pooh was 100% American, be grateful The Bob's Burgers movie is being animated by Disney Feature Animation and not by some Korean studio.

The Tigger Movie, Piglit's Big Movie and Pooh's Heffalump Movie were animated in Japan by Disney Japan, 2011 Pooh on the other hand was 100% animated in the States, thats why it's better then the past Pooh features.
>Not mention actual DTVs like Pooh's Grand Adventure which was done by the same Japanese studio that did the post-A Day for Eeyore 3 Pooh features pre-2011 Pooh, Springtime with Roo and Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie which was done by Disney Australia and Filipino Toon City.

Until recently, animated comedies have always been discouraged from having any continuity so viewers could tune in to reruns or even new episodes without any continuity. The Venture Bros. was a miraculous exception, probably because [adult swim] allows more creative freedom.

Rick and Morty, Final Space, and Netflix originals are changing that.

Please give examples, because the Bob’s Burgers movie doesn’t count. That deal was already sealed long before the FOX acquisition.

Agreed on both counts, and I also think its labeling as a canon WDAS film is inaccurate unless a non-wiki source is linked.
I am somewhat interested as to whether or not Disney puts their branding on BB and moves it over to Disney+ - they confirmed The Simpsons will (essentially signifying they’re okay with their brand being associated with the franchise and making it Disney’s The Simpsons) so I don’t see why the same couldn’t happen for Bob’s, but I think most people are hoping that BB will end with the movie in order to go out with dignity which means it’ll soon be a “catalog property” meaning the way they promote it sort of ceases to matter

Too bad Cartoon Saloon’s Wolfwalkers seems like it’s being made with no deadline, the end result will be awesome I’m sure but they’re taking their sweet time. My Father’s Dragon will be out first but that seems like it’s targeting a very young audience and I’m not sure it’ll be batshit enough to still entertain adults like Ponyo
The two original Pixar movies we’re getting could be nice but I’m not expecting anything stylistically amazing, they have top-tier technical abilities (TS4 looked beautiful, certainly) but without much ambition towards abstraction or inventiveness. Odd how just the act of making high-budget traditional animation at this point just seems like a more intriguing and promising proposition in terms of style despite being a much older medium with far more ground already tred

Well, the difference with CG and 2D is that the former tends to aim for a more mainstream look separate from its concept art (The Book of Life is one of just few exceptions).

With hand-drawn animation, it’s much easier to have all kinds of unique styles.
