It's not marking the downfall, that started a long time ago.
It's just continuing the trend of soft, safe-space, inoffensive, look-like-they-were-all-made-by-the-same-guy baby shows that CN loves to make nowadays.
Even the theme tune sounds like a nursery rhyme.
Shit, if this -was- on a preschool channel I'd think it would actually be a really cute program on there.
But on something like CN it just doesn't fit.

Clarence also was simple and that made it a pretty good cartoon to watch on a sunday afternoon.
I don't know about this show, it looks so blant, so soft and so safe. It feels more like a Nick Jr. Cartoon rather than a CN cartoon.

I wonder how many of these new shows are CN experimenting to see what sticks.

The intended audience tends be a lot more accepting of "New" since everything is new to them.

Not sure about the comedic flavor either. Although something so...how to put it? "Bubblegum" actually reminds of the original Smurfs. Which this is clearly based on.

Does that make this a throwback style?

I like the premise and aesthetic (basically a less magical, more biology-oriented Smurfs), but those designs are really uninteresting. After seeing Stephen P. Neary’s art and comics, I’m heavily disappointed at these uninspired blobs. The backgrounds look amazing and very much on-brand with Neary’s work, but couldn’t he have pushed the Fungies’ proportions in a more creative way?

DC Superhero Girls and Mao Mao are blowing the fuck up all over social media, TTG! is still an unstoppable juggernaut and Ballmastrz and Tigtone got renewed for seconds seasons on top of Rick and Morty getting an order for a whopping 70 more episodes because of what a smash cultural phenomenon it became.

This is the best fucking news.
CN ratings were low and getting worse last time I checked but I haven't been keeping up. If Toonami is struggling then that makes sense. Weebs were streaming before streaming was cool, have a huge pirate culture and don't really like dubs and other edits. With the advent of shit like Crunchyroll Toonami really has no reason to exist.
