There have been plenty of internet-famous creators who endured similar derision and stress, but we zero in on the transgender ones because they're more unusual. If I had to guess, it would just so happen that certain creators have underlying identity problems that become known to the public under duress. It's just a case of the "man bites dog" phenomenon, where we pay more attention to the unusual and then assume the unusual is usual. The full nature of this issue is more complex and multi-faceted than any of us can determine just from seeing someone flip out over Kickstarter drama.
I mean, really, how many really well-known e-celeb types in this position have admitted to being transgender? I know there's that one ADGQ steamer, Chris-Chan, and a few more obscure ones, but this is likely a drastically small portion of both the world of e-celebs and the general population.
