Is the reason anime has consistently realistic proportions while the west rarely does because
the anime industry is more reliant on sex appeal and you need realistic proportions to be appealing in that way to most people?
This could also explain why anime rarely uses puppet animation since it's not as adequate for characters with defined muscle.
