Like, Bruce and Clark are dysfunctional because of their incredibly baked in baggage. Call me a loon for it, but it was spelled out kind of clearly in that recent Tom King story where they were both working cases with their SO’s and they were talking about how the other couldn’t possibly think of them as the other’s friend for sadly isolating but simultaneously hyper respectful views they have of one another.
Jon and Damian could be the best of bros; childhood friends who become and define the notion of being the world’s finest. Bendis took that away, and now in an unspecified skip forward after Heroes in Crisis and Doomsday Clock Damian is running a Supervillain Guantanamo, losing all his other peers and friends, and apparently isn’t on speaking terms with his dad and he needed his best friend...and he was lost in time, space, and among alternate realities. Is back now, and two or three years older than him and even taller to boot.
Damian is hot on the path to Batman 666, and while its a swank outfit...its sad.
