I mean I realize Clint and Nat weren't there in WWII to see him in person but Jesus Christ they don't even raise an eyebrow at the German guy with the red skeleton face? SHIELD must've had pictures of him in their database somewhere.

Except Rocket doesn't match the description of SHIELD's biggest enemy ever. Surely they'd seen pictures of Red Skull before. I mean, hell, we have videos of Hitler giving speeches. Possible explanations:

1. They did think it but kept it to themselves.
2. It was an Alien planet and the onky thing they had to go on was a red face. The clothing was different and he had a hood on.
3. They never did get a proper look at the Red Skull
4. They had a lot more pressing issues than to wonder if the guy was one of Cap's old enemies, like getting tge Souk Stone and getting back to the team
5. A combination of all the above.

IIRC, there was a cut between them first meeting the Red Skull and him revealing what getting the Soul Stone would require, and Black Widow actually killing herself. For all we know they got the details they needed during that time skip and they just didn't show it because we already know it and don't gain much from the narrative if we show Clint and Nat knowing it too.

Why would they care? He's just some guy protecting a magic rock, not leading an army of HYDRA soldiers.

It would have been more interesting if he were still there when Steve came back to put it away. I feel like they would have shared a quiet thought of reflection, well past their enmity.
