I’m actually questioning myself if the reason why cartoons start out happy then become depressing lore shit is a government psy op used to demoralize the masses. The people behind cartoons are actively contributing to my desire to kill myself.

Look at MARVEL and Infinity War.

The heroes face an inevitable force, Thanos, (global warming), and defeat him after a costly defeat, assuring everyone that this scare is only temporary and we'll pull our asses out of the fire somehow.

Each character is also representative of the consumer base and their interactions.
But that's all beside the point

Cartoons that become popular inevitably have a sequel which is a deconstruction (destruction) of what made it good + progressive propaganda up the ass. This is why ATLA ended up as Korra. This is why Star Vs went from shenanigans to propaganda and destruction of magic and Star as a character. This is why HSK's first season had a clear liberal slant but within limits, and why the second season is a progressive propaganda vehicle and nothing more.
