Dolls have a homemade design, with different looks (obviously to sell toys) each doll has a unique power.
One doll if a person is somehow in possession has to tell the truth
There are a pair of dolls that work in tangent. One doll has to be put in a person possession, the other doll now let's you control that person.
Another doll takes your damage. If you have something happen to you, the damage only affects the doll.
And so on.
The girl I'm thinking is probably goth, because voodoo and goths kinda go together. Plus her being goth would be believable to be a loser or outsider.
The priest is a haitian or possibly New Orleans shady business man. The dolls are powered by the "Other side", so the priest actually wants the dolls to destroy them. If he destroyed them, they actually create a portal to the "other side" which he can act like a vacuum and refill all his voodoo magic. He starts the series OP, bet as the show goes on he loses more and more power which makes him more desperate and deadly.
