>>107314782Yep, yep. It goes beyond that. They want the character they push to be THE character. Of course, in connected universe, it doesn't work like that. Your period writing a character shouldn't be guaranteed to have them be the best. Growth requires lowpoints. Some people's runs are bound to be about a character being in the shitter. But no, we can't have that on a feminist icon.
>>107314780Yep, yep, yep. It's ridiculously obvious. Like, you introduce a new JL run. Supes is shown in the first pages kicking alien invader ass, before the JL calls for him and he ups ups and aways.
Bruce, well, he's saving kids from deranged madmen, a single man taking down psycho after pyscho.
But Diana? Best case scenario, she's in a battlefield, fighting a useless schmuck soldier of a tyrant, who told her that
>women have no place in the battlefield and she should leaveand we're supposed to buy that. Literal goddess that tanks rockets. The world knows her. The soldier definitely knows her. He knows what she's capable of, it's common knowledge.
But now, he will, despite ANY FUCKING REASON OR LOGIC act like because she's a woman, he can take her down, just so that our heroine can have her grrrl powaaah moment.
Look, I get it. Teen starting superhero, with no obvious superpowers, getting cornered by bad guys on the street? Yeah, they'll think they can take her, because she's a weak girl, apparently. But with someone like Diana? Who is world known in universe and obviously superpowered? This shit is obscene and IT KEEPS FUCKING HAPPENING.
It ruins the characters, it makes for shitty runs.
