It should have been left up in the air, a question to lead on to a new franchise: Who will be the new Captain America? He could have left a time capsule with the shield to whoever would follow his trail, or something exciting. Instead he just passed the mantle on to the flying guy when he was 80 years old. Oh well.

Post interesting people who could have been Cap. Personally I wouldn't have minded Stark's daughter.
