>>107063164I maintain, and continue to maintain, my position that the show should have continued to focus on freedom vs. responsibility that has been a recurring theme of Star's character from the beginning. I maintain that the adult women in this show should have represented different outcomes for Star until she found her own path.
I maintain that Moon should have been an adult who feels that responsibility is the only way to cope with the injustices in the world, and absolute order is needed to prevent a shocking tragedy. I maintain that Moon should have permanently resented monsters and never believed in a path to desegregation, and that monsters are the embodiment of chaos.
I maintain that Eclipsa should have been an adult who believes that absolute freedom is the only path to happiness, that expectations are a burden and prevents one from living in the moment. I maintain that Eclipsa would have seen in monsters that freedom she was looking for, a chance to release inhibitions and societal norms.
I maintain that Heinous / Meteora should have been what Star is afraid of becoming, a repressed, controlled, and dehumanized individual forced into a role she had no voice in becoming, a free-spirit at her core shackled to the ideologies of axiomatic "truths". I maintain that Meteora's challenge for the throne in S3 shouldn't have been a battle of strength, but a struggle of the self. Either Star accepts her responsibility to become Queen while finding her own path with the help of her best friend, or she abdicates out of fear of failing at her responsibilities and lets Meteora, despite being blatantly unfit, claim the title.
The show died when it stopped being a journey of the self.
