>>106998870>rambling monologue where Loki turned into a snakeFrom the other actors' unsure expression if they should react seriously or not I wonder if it was ad-libbed by Chris, and excuse me while I Film Theory this, but either way that anecdote may reshape the entire Thor series.
The way Thor tells it, it was one of his earliest memories not just of Loki's deceptiveness, but fear, pain and having to accept fault for naivety. Yet the tone makes it sound as if he acknowledges it as a show of Loki's bad character, but doesn't recall it as a bad memory. I'll get back to this.
Later Thor suggests they do Get Help, which is revealed to be a humiliating trick at Loki's expense, and the conversation makes it seem like something else they're very familiar with from younger years. By itself this would make it seem like Thor has been the bully but with the context of the snake story it's possible Thor has been conditioned.
Loki seems to have known he wasn't Asgardian for sometime, if we assume he attacked Thor as a child after learning what they are compared to him the stabbing could have been fueled by malice more than mischief, knowing he couldn't kill Thor but could gravely harm a being like him without consequence. If Thor as a child was only confused by someone close hurting him he may have simply come to the conclusion this is just how boys play, that Loki's laughing meant rough = good, and it was right to trick and abuse people if they allowed it through weakness.
Thor is implied to be a naturally brash figure since Thor 1 and Loki seemed meek there, but it may be that Thor, adapting to Loki's early injuries at home, eventually turned their childlike cruelty on enemies and made friends with people who'd come to enjoy rough housing too, so Loki became reserved not to deceive but because his pranks backfired and surrounded him with not one but five Thors he can't be rid of.
Get Help was Thor taking a page from Loki's snake prank, and Loki's karmatic punishment.
