The Brother Chaps were hired because they worked independently on animation for a good while and got good at it, and they've got a solid resume that shows some experience and that audiences like what they make.
I don't know that Brian Clevinger was brought on for Atomic Robo because of 8-bit theater. If you recall, he spent a little time taking shots at new comics. There was "How I Killed Your Master" and at least one or two other things. But I think he was just calling around pitching this idea until he found someone who would take it.
If it's about breaking into the comics industry - which is dying by the way - Scott could probably shop his resume around until he found a gig. I mean, heck, GreasyMoose (formerly Sexualobster) worked in children's animation and it's not because of what he's notable on the internet for.
