Mina is like the anti-Eclipsa, in terms of being another powerful character who's centuries old, but who has actually been alive all that time and experienced loss and the destruction of all she believed in, cared about, and was created for. Also unlike Eclipsa, she isn't constantly dicksucked by the fanbase and is guaranteed to lose hard by the story's end instead of being constantly rewarded.

I like her a lot now. Compared to Star and Eclipsa both doing everything for Eclipsa's benefit, Mina really does come off like she's trying to achieve what she believes is the greater good, even if that greater good is genocidal and insane.

It wasn't about Mina's reason for dethroning Eclipsa, the only reason Moon wanted to stop Mina is cause she's not a warmonger. If she wants to to something she wants to do it diplomatically and only resorting to fighting if there's no other choice.

Because she got a HYPE buildup for like a year before she even became a regular character (two years, even, if you count how in S1 everyone realized there had to be an unrevealed character with spade cheeks to complete the card suits pattern). She looked cool. She had a cool backstory. Those sick rhyming spells. Even her brief role in Battle for Mewni was pretty cool.

So before she'd even really done anything outside of the Moon contract, she was already a favorite character for a lot of people. Even me, before I saw the light once she actually started doing stuff onscreen and became a black hole that consumes the entire show.

Basically, people already had such a strong attachment to her concept and potential, before she'd even done a thing onscreen, that they were prepared to love her no matter what she did. The fact that she's now constantly written as being super "relatable" (loooves chocolate! plays guitar! vegetarian! social justice!) seems to be attempts to make her a further hit to teens/20-somethings on social media, and even as it seems really transparent pandering it's certainly working.

Unless Eclipsa turned out to be a drooling retard as in pic related they'd already made it so that fans would like her no matter what, based more on the fanfiction vision of her they'd developed in the heads than the actual show.

I think I always sort of liked her but this most recent appearance really stood out.

One problem is that I think a lot of people were let down by her first appearance just being a joke episode, and so I think even now a lot of the fanbase just doesn't care for the character that much even though she is pretty interesting. Though I think having her get killed offscreen last season was a waste.

There's no evidence mewmans weren't peaceful. They barely occupied any land. Both sides are to blame for their wars, Glossaryck was possibly even more to blame seeing as he keeps messing about in the past.
Neither mewmans nor monsters represent a certain group in the literal sense but due to the messages they're used for mewmans are more akin to colonizers that took over native americans(came to a primitive land and developed a kingdom), and monsters are more akin to minorities and oppressed groups in general. They're all played like idiots because it's a cartoon and there has to be comedy so neither of them are the more intelligent side.

Because Monsters avoided it, Solaria planned to exterminate/enslave all monsters and take their land by force.

Monster generals were so good they avoided the expansion and killed hundreds of Solarian warriors like Mina, leaving her alone by the end of Festivia's reign (yeah... she wasn't good at warfare)

Not to mention monsters were surrounded by Mewman allies who can use magic (Poniheads and Demons), yet managed to survive. They're quite impressive.

The Mewmans were winning the war, the problem is that Mewni was vastly outnumbered compared to monsters. Even though the wand could theoretically create infinite resources, it couldn't create infinite manpower, unlike monsters who can operate with human-wave tactics.

Consider how many children the Avarius family has, or how many Buff Babies there are. Now, consider that the majority of Mewmans have one or two children. Even though Butterfly Kingdom has a high, concentrated population, they're dramatically outnumbered.

By the time Solaria got assassinated, she was losing a war of attrition. If the Solarian Project had been perfected, and one Solarian was equal to X amount of monsters, then Solaria could have won, especially if she managed to figure out the Darkest Spell.

The fact remains, however, that none of the writers reduce Solaria's motivations to bigotry and hate for something different, rather than devotion and love for Mewni, and therefore make her literally Hitler instead of something inspirational. She was the only one in her entire dynasty to put Mewni before herself, and it's disgusting that people hate her.

This is why I have my doubts on our understanding of events. If Solaria had such acute tunnel-vision, how could she possibly have been ambushed by some monsters and assassinated? Wouldn't she always be aware of her surroundings while outside of her kingdom's walls? I refuse to believe that her death was an unfortunate accident. The monster assist moved shit up to Victorian era level which is a step up from the Dark Ages.

That's not what I'm implying at all. Toffee, Seth, and Globgor were all active during that time, after all. However, Seth would have been too old, Toffee would have been too green (the only way he could kill Comet nearly 300 years later was to leap at her during a ceasefire of all things), and if Globgor was really aiming for peace no one on his faction would have done anything to Eclipsa's beloved mother.

Does anyone else wonder how much Glossaryck has pushed events to happen as they have? Is this guy behind everything? People like to think Glossy is omniscient, but can still make mistakes. He admits giving the MHC free will was a mistake, and tried get Festivia to find out that she wasn't a real Butterfly but she ignored him and it seems Glossy gave up on trying to get the NuButterflies to learn their origins after that. I kind of wish they had made the past something like the Spaniads vs the Natives, where the original civilization that the new conquers replaced was cruel and unjust in it's own way too.

Like if I wanted to write the story, I'd have it so that Seth was the ruler of the original "monster" civilization but it was an oppressive one run by the lizardfolk. When Mewmans came, they eventually overthrew the lizardfolk kingdom. Creatures that aided the Mewmen were considered civilized and allowed to have their own kingdoms, while creatures who sided with the lizardfolk were deemed to be monsters and effectively had their own tribes/civilizations dismantled reducing them to becoming brigands or hunter-gatherer societies living off the margins of society or what little sustenance they can get from the harsh wilderness.

It's been so long since these events that literally nobody can remember what really happened, not even the other lizardfolk, only the fallen king Seth who's own memories of the events are wrapped by his ego and his slowly impending senility. But he still remembers it like it happened yesterday, and will stop at nothing to get his rightful throne back.

Back I think in the actual show, I will be surprised if Seth even shows up so late in the story, much less plays a pivotal role in the plot.

I sided with Eclisa in Swim Suit precisely because there's no need for her to be considerate with Rhombulus.
