Rebecca and other crewniverse members expressed love for her and treated her as a major character even before she became a fan favorite, her corruption was just the midpoint of her story where she hit rock bottom and what was revealed about her + how she was portrayed in that episode left her open for an eventual return, and she wouldn't have just been left out of the loop on Pink Diamond forever. They have been played as foils and struggle with similar internal conflict, Jasper needs to learn the same lessons in accepting herself and her origins that Amethyst did in season 3
