>>106733187The movie is objectively bad. It's The Lego Movie mixed with Wreck-It Ralph, but with smartphones, and it doesn't really know what its message is even supposed to be, since their whole society is at risk of being completely destroyed if "our protagonist" is himself, and the love interest who isn't even a real emoji wants to not be herself because Hollywood feminism. Plus, all the shameless product placement that makes it way to obviously a giant string of back to back advertisements people had to literally PAY to watch if they didn't pirate it, steal it, or know somebody who owned a copy of it already, AND the only thing keeping it from being illegal is the fact that it's a movie and not a webseries or something else where they would have to be way more clear about paid sponsorship.
Yeah, Lego Movie was essentially a big ads for its products, but at least it had a story that could stand on its own without all the "buy lego sets and merchandise" that came with it, and again, it knew what it wanted to be, unlike this trainwreck that's more indecisive than Mario Galaxy and not even half as unironically enjoyable.
And there's so many obvious errors with the "research" that went into it.
"Piracy app"
Yeah, because that would totally be on the app store for more than a few days! Nothing wrong there, move along, those faces you text people with are totally in games they weren't in before and you didn't do an update, they're just there now, and now they're gone, off to the next app!
Okay, just calm down, calm down, it's fine, it's not that bad, it's not that bad, it's that bad, it keeps getting worse the more you think of it WHYINTHENAMEOFGODDIDANYBODYTHINKTHISWASOKAY!
I need to watch something decent.
Like Batman & Robin.
