I'm going to be entirely honest and say that i never got why he was popular in the first place. His reviews are pretty bland, and something about his inflection just drives me up a fucking wall.

I still enjoy his content. He's got a more casual attitude than most other reviewers and tries to give everything a fair shot. His podcasts can definitely be grateing but I think that's more due to the other people in them rather than pan himself. And even then whatever politics he does have rarely make it into his vids.

Apparently he exploded in popularity with his failed pilots video in which he sneaked a clip from Zone.
Other than that he's just good at being a youtuber and e-celeb. What people find appealing about him is his self-deprecating attitude, well-researched reviews, lewd humor and knowledge of the industry. He was very productive on Youtube and Tumblr to the point of being completely exhausted at one point.
