Are people really this stupid to not realize that those are just the number of units Marvel sold to comic shops not the amount people buy, further stacked for Captain Marvel by variants. Comic shops have shelf space stacked with Captain Marvel that people don’t buy. I doubt they have the same problem with Wonder Woman

It does seem weird when DC never really does much with WW either outside of stick her on posters and splash pages a lot while bragging they had the first female superhero. Not many can name 2 of her villains, a single story arc, or name anything notable she has ever done.

WW has always had a smaller fanbase compared to the other big heroes, but a consistent and loyal one. CM's fanbase on the other hand, was entirely forced. She had her fans but she was always an Avenger first and foremost.

Marvel comics have been trying recently to attract a female audience. They think making a woman headline would do that and Carol was the only one with an ongoing that wasn't licensed to an outside studio already. That assumption has failed so far but Marvel never admits error and has continued its push despite customer complaints. The MCU saw WW's success and hurried to push Carol to take advantage without really caring why WW succeeded in the first place. The assumption is that the usual MCU formula more or less guarantees some sort of success.
