Still, if he did so too did Vader who visited the place shortly after ANH when Boba Fett clued Vader in that Dark Lord had a son.
I wonder if Filoni, the madman, would actually have Luke meet up with Luke, learn about the good man his father was, and perhaps train a bit more. Something to explain his upgrades since ESB but not really interfering with ROTJ. Luke would still need to return to Yoda, who did say Luke required no more training, a change from how he acted in ESB. Maybe orange buttcheeks was the difference. I can't imagine her agreeing to face Vader again after how it went the last time. She'd be a complication, in more ways than one, and it's also Luke's destiny to face Vader alone.
This really wouldn't be the first time new revelations have shifted old scenes. The reveal that Force Ghosts can see the future means Obi-Wan already knew how events would play out. He should theoretically know whether the Emperor has already won, he just can't tell Luke. In fact it seems like the certain point of view bit was rampant between him in Yoda, basically manipulating Luke. The way they kept telling him he had to confront Vader, not the Emperor, as if that were the key, telling him flat out that Vader couldn't be redeemed because the good man no longer existed and he was more machine now. The only way I can read that after everything else we've learned is they were deliberately testing him. This was lifting the X-Wing all over again, except this time they were telling him it was impossible in order to dare him to DO the impossible. The confrontation with Vader wasn't a duel, it was heart to heart talk before meeting the Emperor. It was the reconnection of emotions within Vader that allowed Anakin to return. That was always the key to defeating the Emperor. Anakin was the Jedi who returned.
