Good characters are dimensional, fascinating, compelling and/or believable.
Helen Parr is dimensional and believable. Being "unlikeable" isn't a negative trait. If anything, Helen being likable, relatable and sympathetic would make her into a false god.
Why do you think the sequel was able to make 1.24 billion dollars? That ain't normal, I tell you that much.
Likeable, relatable and sympathetic are abused traits to hide a less interesting character. Why do you think Rey is having so many problems in Star Wars fanbase wise while Ben isn't? Because they focused too much on her being likeable and relatable to little girls that they forgot to make her dimensional, fascinating and/or compelling. The only believable thing about her was that she wasn't related to anybody in the Star Wars Universe.
