>>105906179It's anti-pop culture humor. For the past decade or so we've seen a massive influx of people calling themselves "nerds" and surrounding themselves with AAA video games, funko merchandise, stray floppies they'd pick up at comic shops, and Triforce tattoos to fit into the lowest-hanging social niche possible. For years the general response from 4chan was to over react and get angry at the dyed-hairs and le geeks xD because it was a knee-jerk reaction, until Leto's Joker was revealed and essentially opened the floodgate to ironic shitposting.
"Gamers rise up" and "MOM'S GONNA FREAK" really took strides in conveying how the people frustrated at these geek culture people felt through degrees of anti-humor, abating what was prominent since 2007. Nobody says "the cake is a lie" anymore without being 100% ironic, nobody except the obsessive in denial buys mail-in boxes of cheap, branded merchandise.
It's funny because in-context it's not supposed to be funny.
