I can't stand people who can't sit still for a movie. My roommates GF is like this and it drives me insane. Normally I'd say fuck intermissions but with a 3 hour run time + a large beverage is a recipe for disaster. I almost missed the last few minutes of Logan because I had to piss so bad.

I really wouldn't mind an intermission. My grandma love these movies, and she's pushing 80. So I don't think a potty break would be that bad. It's like you're driving a car for 8 hours. You need to get out and walk around a while before moving on.

Also, pretty sure this movie will make 2 billion easy, so any excuses for "intermissions are not viable, we'd lose money for not having room for one more movie" aren't viable.

This is such a non-statement. Immersion? You think you're having a lucid dream? It's a fucking movie. It's even better for story structure because it lets you build up to a halfway point climax, take a good break and then start building up again to the final climax. The real question is if the three-hour runtime will be entertaining enough to keep an audience captivated.

There's a reason movies these days tend to cap out at two hours, besides those pointed out by >>105843908. Editing a film means to cut out the unnecessary portions in favor of getting to the meat of a story or scene.

You're going to lose viewers if thirty minutes of the film's first two hours are collectively spent in static shots of people talking to other people, especially if there's no real action involved in these talks.

I think you missed that anon's point. I think he meant hypothetically if IW had been written differently to correspond with Endgame's shorter timespan.

Awhile ago it was rumored these films would be called IW part 1 and 2, meaning they were originally more connected. Obviously Disney/Marvel chose to take a different approach and have them be more like separate movies as opposed to a 2-parter of one big movie.

Get it now?

I watch a lot of Bollywood so this doesn't make much of a difference to me. It might be good for the pasing. A fair amount of films drag but if they had an intermission I'd probably like them a lot more. BvS and TLJ would be better films if they had an intermission.
