Clark and Lex were friends through their teen years. I forget which but there was one comic that showed their first meeting during a fair. Not like it matters since Luthor forgetting Clark is part of the reason he never allows himself to know that Clark and Superman are the same.

I have no idea what Lex even wants in this story. He’s collecting items so that he can release Perpetual, on the belief that she’ll... make him a god or something? Like, what does he get out of it once she’s released? The ability to reshape reality as he sees fit or something? It’s never really made clear. Presumably he’ll get a way to kill/erase Superman?

Basically He wants to use Perpetua's power to reshape the entire multiverse into a cosmic weapon of doom and evolve humanity into its most powerful form, kill Perpetua's race and replace them with humanity as the owners of heaven

the fact that J'onn mentions that Lionel turned into an alcoholic and that that is the father Lex knew seems to imply that all this happened BEFORE the usual tellings of Lex's backstory that we know.

AKA we can still assume that this is all BEFORE Clark and Lex were at school together.

"Superwoman" with Lana Lang (which is part of the Rebirth continuity) showed that Clark and Lex were at Smallville High at the same time and knew each other.

Honestly as a Superfag I’m absolutely fine with that. The other Superman Rogues have not been used at all, and Lex has utterly dominated the Superline for way too long. Now would be the perfect chance to give some of Supes other Rogues like Metallo or Parasite some focus. Instead we get Bendis and his OCs. I like Red Cloud but man does Rogal Zaar just bore the shit out of me.
