EA is giving cash anon this is getting funded by patreons and some external sources alongside his new studio, EA is probably just distributing the game because they have the right, I mean the game is happening just because McGee showed EA there a public for this game if they reconsider they might give him do money, but that could mean screwing him over again

Pretty much. Apparently two entire levels and additional boss fights were cut, which is why the levels in the game are stretched out so much and why there's only one real boss fight at the end. They prettied the hell out of it and Alice in particular but goddamn if the actual gameplay didn't get stale and repetitive quick.

As a boy I didn't like Alice in wonderland. The British voice and very bright colors gave me an immediate distaste. It wasn't until I was older and I saw things like American McGee's Alice or Grimm Fairy tales Alice in wonderland that showed wonderland is actually a horrific place if you were to really look at it.

On a off note, I also liked all the cosplay this sprung of girls wanting to be Alice. The costume was practical, feminine, and not slutty.

I'm quite surprised to see an Alice: Madness thread in /co/. I guess I should share a couple of new info about Alice 3.

-Mcgee is currently getting his funds through Patreon. He conducts livestreams between Tuesdays and Wednesdays and gives away some free art through a raffle. As of recent, the new game will be called Asylum

-It will be a mix prequel with sequel elements detailing Alice's early life in the Asylum.
-Currently undergoing artwork and concept phase while Mcgee haggles with EA about the rights. Some of the reveals includes a rabbit onesie, two early arts of young Alice as well as a hint of a more fatter Chesire. Pic related is the latest reveal.
-He recently got married this January to a chinese waifu. His new game studio is being setup somewhere in Asia, thailand I think.

I've always liked American McGee's chesire most. Disney version is an ass who does more bad than good. Tim Burton's version is a weirdo who turned out to be a coward(design wise I also like the least), and I think the Grimm Chesire is a straight up villain.

I think studio isn't Mcgee's concern. He can make a game, the problem is mass publishing. He can go for Steam but financially, he might also need another publisher to back up years of work. Even Valve had to partner up with EA at one time.

I really like the woodcut cutscenes from Madness returns. I think she looks best there.
Madness Returns was so sad. You can tell that all the artists, and McGee himself, really cared about it from the creative angle, but EA really fucked them.
Although, to be fair, I think that a lot of the gameplay of Alice wouldn't translate well to a modern iteration, almost to the point where I'd rather have a story game than an actual game.

Yeah, but people are a lot harder on gameplay in this day and age. Unless they get some really top-notch people on the gameplay, it'll be just like MR, competent but ultimately boring.
People don't even want to play this new game because of the combart: the series is already founded on the fondness people have towards the character(s), mainly Alice and Cat. It'd be an easy pivot away from the mediocre combat/platformer.

Give it a whirl, but don't expect a deep combat system. It's not terrible, but for what it could've been, it's just disappointing memory.

The first one on the otherhand, if you can deal with the obsolete combat system for lots of exploration and a rather grotesque reimagining of the Wonderland story, you'll surely like it.

The first game controls pretty terrible. Platforming on a bare Quake engine is an exercise in frustration (seriously, FUCK the ice level and that entire platforming puzzle section near the end)

He has two levels in Ultimate Doom, yes. McGee met Carmack by chance and got a job at id as tech support call guy, which later became level designer and programmer throughout Doom 2. Arguably he had the most influence on Quake, where aside from having a whole episode to himself (same as the other mappers- Romero, Petersen and Willits), his levels did some funky stuff the player would remember like low gravity, and he got to work with Trent Reznor and NIN (whom he listened to near exclusively) in making the soundtrack and all the audio for the game.

the first game was getting out of coma, the second about dealing with reality and even then she's 'only' half sane
