The pacing was bad because they rushed it. They spent three-or-four episodes dealing with Miles and Tag being emo, but rushed through Meika's redemption in a single episode.
Exposition was a problem because it didn't happen. They didn't question her at all. She could have explained why she was working for them and her history with Pike. She should have explained what Pike asked her to do, to at least give Meelo some heads-up that it probably wasn't a simple scrambler device. But they didn't question Meika at all.
And them eating chips when she was talking to the Ringmasters? I get that it's a children's comedy but season one had some very dark moments. The stakes were too high for that shit. And since that scene was the first scene we got right after she re-joined the team, it really set the storyline back and made everything seem pointless.
