1. This is explicit character growth for a character who started off worrying about and scheduling losing her virginity
2. This is character growth for Cio, who is bad at asking for consent and taking other people into account
3. There's sexual tension between two characters, who happen to be the same gender. If I didn't explore and resolve that thread it would feel inauthentic or unresolved to me, and at worse, queerbaiting
