>>105529912The inflation and popping thing is really only the icing on the shitcake. I'm sure there are actually plenty of inflation artists out there, interested in similar stuff that acknowledge its a weird fetish, don't want people to know that they're into it, but are still generally cool people with other more normal interests and lives. Life is kind of odd that way.
Why it's interesting with Dobson is that he's an arrogant prick. His comic portrays him as being better than everyone else, like he's some pillar of moral righteousness. He behaves like something is wrong with the rest of the world, and that he's the only person who's normal, as illustrated by his endless supply of strawman comics. He's unfunny, uncreative, not open to feedback, senselessly stubborn about shit that doesn't matter (Link's hair colour for instance), and in general lacks the basic qualities of what makes a person likable.
The fact that he's all of that amplifies the fact that he has a weird fetish. If he was a fucking cool dude, who worked to be the best he could and was humble about the type of artist he was, of course he would still catch flak about the inflation thing but more people would be willing to turn a blind eye.
