Yang vs Adam was at least partially based off of Monty's scraps from the unfinished fight sequence the two were supposed to have in Volume 3, which is why their fighting was so much faster-paced and fluent than nearly anything else that came after his passing.

I've been reading this fanfic and one thing I've noticed is that every character unloads their backstory and motivation at the drop of a hat, even to people who should already know. And then when characters are discussing other characters they do the same thing. And there are multiple scenes where characters who should already know these things have the information repeated to them. There was one scene where a character dumped exposition about their backstory to someone they literally just met.

I've read stories that made worse mistakes, but that was just annoying

I’m still betting that the Headmaster of Shade Academy is probably either gonna be based on scarecrow or Dorothy. Everyone says that Qrow is scarecrow but I have a hard time believing it. Neither his design nor story arc match up with scare crow. I feel Shade HM is gonna be scarecrow inspired, probably being the least wise out of all the headmasters and probably a country bumpkin.

Writers have straight up said Qrow is Scarecrow. I don't know of there are other Oz characters left to use for Shade's headmaster, but it feels like Ruby is supposed to be Dorothy. Then again, they use and forget character references all the time and have barely ever used their character's inspiration beyond just surface level, so who knows.

It's supposed to be. For me, it's too convenient. I wanted to see that shit hinder her a little before she could overcome it. The struggle is no fun if there's no struggle. It's kind of like Blake and Yang's issues that way. Blake learns her lesson just before the two get to team up on Adam, leaving no chance of that becoming a problem for them in the fight.

If he’s based on scarecrow then they’re doing a pretty shit job at making his character even remotely connected to him. The only thing I can possibly think of as connected him is his name “Qrow” and maybe he lacks common sense but even that’s a stretch. Besides it would disturb my OCD to not have the Shade academy professor be scarecrow. It would line up perfectly with preestablished themeing patterns.

Well, the way Neptune talked to him about it made it seem like Nep knew that he liked her and was questioning his decision and Sun was saying that it was more than about him, he needed to help someone he loved no matter if it helped him or got him into a relationship. In other words he was telling Neptune he wasn’t trying to be The Nice Guy, he was just trying to be a good friend.

Everything up to volume 6 was clearly teasing black sun. It wasn’t until this volume and these last two episodes that shit went to hell in a hand basket with Bumblebee.

You just don't understand Monty's vision.
Now, you retards are probably thinking how two characters that haven't interacted can possibly be endgame. Let me lay it out for you all nice with slow words. Blake and Jaune are the main characters of the show. That's just how it is. No matter the volume, they'll always get their character arcs touched on, yet those arcs never once meet. That shit's on purpose. It's because their plotlines are meant to cross only by the very end.
What about all their other love interests you may ask? Well, those are all people they need to go through in their lives before they're ready for each other. Their love interests even parallel each other. Pyrrha and Adam? Redheaded mentors that end in tragedy. Weiss and Sun? Superficial attraction to people that are the opposite of them that goes nowhere in the end. This shit leaves the stage for their first real relationships. For Blake that's going to be Yang. For Jaune it's probably Ruby. They'll have their cute relationship, but it'll end up not working. And that's when shit really begins.
If you can't tell the show is going this way, you only have yourselves to blame for missing all the subtle cues and foreshadowing.

bb began as a mutual understanding as teammates and grew into a reflection of some of their most pivotal character traits (yang's abandonment issues and blake's tendency to run from her problems)

not saying that bb automatically HAS to be a romantic relationship but having such colossal, life altering moments with someone and learning to trust that person with such personal issues would cause a much stronger bond to form than a mutual physical attraction. bb as a relationship has the most buildup between any two characters in the entire show

Even if Adam isn't that bad, both are red flags for edgelord Sues.

The brother stuff could work if you make it a parallel to Blake and thus strengthen Adam's character. He already had a family member betray him because of his dedication to the cause, so when Blake leaves it hurts all the more.
You should also really frame the horn part as something practical. It sounds too much like an emotional response if you reveal it right after the Adam stuff.

Maybe instead have your OC injure his horns and it's common practice to amputate Faunus parts because there's not enough samples to develop medical treatments for each and everyone.

This. There's already people in the fandom unironically photoshopping Yang into Sun's scenes with Blake at Menagerie and Blake into Weiss's scenes with Yang from volume 5. Hopefully we won't get one at all and they'll focus entirely on the volume itself. If we do get one, I guess it depends on how this volume ends. If the group gets split somehow then I imagine it would go to the smaller group to catch us up on what they're doing while the majority are in Argus. If it's another villain one then people will assume they'll die, just like they did with Adam. They could do Tai/Raven if they plan on bringing them back into the story.

I felt he was trying to use it to break Yang's guard (and once when he sperged about Blake looking at her over him). Yang seems pretty tanky in terms of Aura as well.

I think the wave attack was always the intended form of it, we just never saw it since he'd use it at melee range.
Yang got hit by it at Beacon because she flew at it without even attempting to dodge, and the spider crab tank got hit by it because it's a machine with no real mental ability.

Him using it in combat is the problem. It's a finisher move, he uses it as a finisher move. And then suddenly he's just using it as a filler in the middle of fights (and is using it in a new and much less powerful way). "He's angry though!" is such a cheap workaround for them needing to reduce how dangerous he was.

We've literally only seen him use it twice before now though.
Once was against the spider tank which had no brains which meant easy charge, once was against Yang at Beacon when she threw herself at him not even trying to dodge with low Aura to boot.
Against current Yang, who is someone agile, constantly breaking his guard, and even learning to avoid his sword entirely, what is he supposed to do? Just hold onto the charge until she knocks him out before he can even use it?
His only major mistake was wasting all his charge at once when he saw Blake looking at her, which damaged her enough to dent her arm through her Aura but not break it. He wasn't using his entire charge before then, he was using controlled, stronger outbursts to keep pressure on Yang.

Yes, anon. That is my point. He has never done that previously, and for good reason, because each time he does that his semblance gets weaker. That is why he uses it as a finisher, because it is a semblance that is less effective the more times you use it. He could have easily waited until his aura was even wavering instead of spamming it.

This fight? She was using recoil from Ember Celica to spin in the air to avoid the blade and strike at his blind spot at some points. She was more than keeping up with him in terms of moment-to-moment speed.

We've also never seen him fight someone on his level 1 on 1 before now. All we've seen him fight before now was fodder, bigger fodder, Blake, and Yang when she was already so low on Aura it probably didn't take much charge at all to finish her.

His Moonslices until then still weren't enough to break Yang's Aura, and Moonslices were like 95% of the damage Yang took in the fight
If he waited until the very end and used it all at once, the result would have been the same (Yang being left at like 1% and her Semblance at its strongest), it might have been even worse for him since Yang would have had momentum most of the time instead of some of it

He uses it twice against Blake to break her weapon and cut the rope because he doesn't think they'll be interrupted.
He uses it five times against Yang; one is a weak blade beam to try and catch her with his sword toss, one is a slightly stronger attack when he thinks she's confused by the doppelgangers, once is when he spergs out about Blake looking at her, once is when he breaks her guard and lands a direct hit with it, and one final time is when he thinks it's guaranteed to break her Aura.
The third one is the mistake here and probably what cost him the match, since this is the point Yang actually got into his head. The two times he uses it after are when he affirms that he's confident her Aura is about to run out.

The BIGGEST mistake they made regarding Adam was literally turning him into Elliot Rodger, some whiny entitled cunt who reeeeees over getting rejected/left behind by some girl. He had already been built up as an experienced, badass terrorist who was ready to lay down life or limb for his cause, no matter how brutal or wrong his cause was. He was supposed to be badass as a fighter, and resolute to his cause. The moment they decided to change him from the leader of a terrorist group to reeeeing schizophrenic Lifetime villain, his character was done for. He was supposed to go down as a madman who had gone over the edge in a campaign for faunus rights, not screeching over ONE girl who walked away from his group. I don't know about other people, but my problem isn't really that he lost, it's that he's a completely different, pettier character now (seething ex, "you-broke-my-heart" Adam) than he was established to be at first ("unshakeable extremist on a mission" Adam).
