>Jonathan Crane's exploits as Scarecrow made him into a sort of urban legend amidst university students in Gotham. Every year some of them try to scare others with burlap sacks, and he's become a popular Halloween costume. Scarecrow actually drops by some of these universities to either scare students or recruit new followers, usually the ones who want a way to get back at their bullies.
>Because he never spends money on anything besides books and experiments, Crane is probably the poorest of all the Batman villains, which he wouldn't mind if it wasn't for the fact that it makes finding henchmen rather difficult. Despite this, and him only bothering with basic hygiene, Crane is actually very high maintenance about the things he does and the way he looks. He often stands in front of the mirror wondering if his shirt is ripped enough or the noose he wears needs to be frayed more, making sure he has the right look, and this is part of why he changes costume so often.
>Crane has little interest in entertainment besides his precious books and he used to dismiss television as junk for the masses. But he's recently taken a liking to trashy horror movies. He gets mad when book adaptations deviate from the source material, and he was very upset when he discovered Peter Cushing was no longer alive.
>Crane doesn't really get along with most of the other rogues, but he does have a soft spot for Harley, despite his disdain for her ex-boyfriend. The only reason Jon has a phone, besides issuing orders, is to text with Harley.
>Despite being raised in the south, Crane doesn't have an accent. He put a lot of work into removing it from his vernacular since he'd rather die than be caught slipping a country expression mid-sentence. It does come up when he's under stress.
>Every now and then, Crane considers trying to become a teacher again. But he is too invested in his work as a supervillain, and ultimately, he loves being The Scarecrow too much to abandon it.
