>>105352059See, the thing is. Hollywood special effects. Movies nowadays are 90% CGI and that takes budget and work out the ass. But they still pay for it. Why? Because people buy it. What I'm getting at is that people really just don't care about quality animation. If they did they'd be willing to pay for the effort. And while, granted, Disney did a LOT of sandbagging with their final Traditional Animation attempts, it still seems pretty convincing that Western Audiences just aren't willing to pay for what animation costs. And the operative lever there is not how much animation costs (because, again, trillions in special effects budget), it's how much they're willing to pay.
People just don't care about animation.
