That people are individuals and should be judged only for their own actions, the predation could be compared to past injustices like slavery or two stereotypes like blacks being violent none of which are fairly attributed to whites or blacks as a whole.

Predators = historically oppressive groups
while there wasn't much cannibalism involved the predation could be seen as a metaphor for historical exploitation and oppression of any number of people to any other number of people in the past.
