What he is saying is that you can get cancer then "cure" yourself by getting rid of all of the mutating cells but you are still left with DNA and genes that have a natural predisposition to fuck up.

So you "cure yourself" but then three weeks later another batch of cells fucks up while splitting or regrowing and mutates into a cancerous cell and that then begins to multiply.

I don't think you understand was cancer is.
Essentially cancer is unchecked life, unnatural growth caused a damaged cell that continuously replicates that the body fights back against. The truth is cancerous tumors never killed anyone - it's the body trying to fix itself that does.
The reason why cancer can come back again and again and again is because it can be a completely brand new cancer.

One of my personal favorites. It's pretty much heavy handed with its morals and if you have a final stage of X-Faggotry, where guest appearances by inhumans make you rage, then it's probably not for you.
It has some great stories, Blackheart is great, Mephisto's first appearance is genius and it has awesome tie-in to Acts of Vengeance.

Just a theory, but I think the symbiote suppressed/erased the memory of Eddie going to Flash's funeral because it knew all about his insecurities, and despite the symbiote choosing him time and time again to bond with, Eddie's still an insecure fuck.

Yep, originally she was just a character Larson invented who ended up in a coma after she was caught in a fight between Nova and a bad guy and Eddie fucking went ballistic when he learned she got hurt and went and tried killing Rich.

I disagree most. Some? Sure. But Eddie Brock has a wiki page that lays out all these plot holes. I even read his page after you posted this and the Venom suit one to boot. Took just at an hour. And this is the internet age, Marvel in the late 70s up till the late 80s expected you to keep up with capes that were around as long as Eddie with twice the source material and there were bibles on these capes that writers and artist would keep track of. And they got paid worse back then to boot.

Their is no god damn excuse to be this sloppy with stories that can be caught up on in a hour's time.

funny enough that's why they fired Shooter as Editor and Chief of Marvel in the late 80s, he cared about continuity and all the writers hated him for that, the artists hated him because he kept strict deadlines if it was due out on the 14th of May, god help you if he hears it shipped the 15th.
interestingly enough many mark the year of his termination as when the comics decline occurred.

One thing I loved about 80s comics as a little kid was how tight the continuity was. Like Spider-man swinging home in that paper bag mask and it started snowing in the summer and the little editor's box said "If you're wondering why it's snowing read this month's Thor".

It made the Marvel Universe feel like an actual universe, not like a bunch of stand alone comics.

Well it’s why they put up with Shooter for 9 years his actions made marvel take 80% shares. Issue was a lot of big name writers left to DC and that’s didn’t go over well. So they fired him and let the kids run the school and within 5 years they helped burn it all to the ground.

End of 87. DeFalco era was when the wheels were flying off however. He double down the writers were more needed that artists and have most character creation credit to the writer in relation to the thread it was mostly Venom as DeFalco argued Todd had nothing to do with how popular Venom was and it was the writing team. This naturally pissed off Todd badly and sowed the seeds for Imagie comics. They also did the big AoA story that smack around conuntity hard after it was over. In irony this and the DC mega events (death of Superman, Knigtfall) is what put all of lore and what not in a blender and started the first wave of mega events that had to effect everything and as such made continuity a thing of the past.

At least they constantly mentioned that the Avengers and the FF were out of town. And pretty much every street level NYC hero showed up. I like that because it had some nod to continuity, and to the fact the NYC is full of supers, when most comics will have, say, dinosaurs rampaging down 5th Ave and only the protagonist shows up, no sign of anyone other hero in the City.

All the Avengers? Out of the 35+ registered Avengers only Cap and Firestar are able to save NYC that is completely dominated by Cranage and friends? What about the X-men? Or Shield? And we didn't even see an ounce of Marvel's street heroes in NYC, you have to make a lot of excuses to make this even slightly operate as possible in Marvel at the time. Dinosaurs rampaging down 5th Ave likely would only need the one cape to stop it, because it's just 5th avenue. When it's a damn city going completely insane and millions on millions of lives are at stake for over a god damn week it makes the whole story absurd.

I think that story was also when it was getting damn clear that New York was just going to get obliterated every week. From 88 to 98 you had the city getting blown to pieces three times a year on average.(so what is that in comic time? once a month?) I was struggling to take any of it seriously after the Inferno event of late 1988 where hell came to earth and you literally had demon's dragging civilians into hell and all types of evil on ever corner. It makes say Onslaught look like a fucking joke.

There's so little story actually happening in this book it's getting really tiresome. Each book has kinda just become a platform for Cates to make more retcons instead of progressing the story. I was really hoping in this book we would learn more about Dylan and have him and Eddie form more of a relationship. Instead its just more messing with continuity.

Not to mention that Venom isn't even showing up in Venom. I think the thing that bothers me the most though about this most recent change is that neglect works a lot better with the psychology of Eddie Brock then this weird abuse retcon. Since the whole point of the symbiotic relationship goes into the needing some sort of companionship and love. It's why Eddie and the Symbiote work so well together because they both are needy and lonely. Abuse works better with Flash and his story arc.

Also it's kind of weird that they would imply that he would even have to pay off people. Tons of rich people are able to just kind of have their kid get away with shit and not have to do anything. This whole thing just feels forced for no real reason.
