>>105152258This is mainly down to writers and editors knowing jack-shit about Wonder Woman or Superman beyond "bland goodly do-gooders, great hair and teeth, flight and strength and toughness".
Superman's a simple, straightforward guy in a world that the greedy and corrupt tell him is complex, with the strength to bull through anyway. A farm boy who wanted to see the world, and found something to be fascinated by wherever he looked. A man who believes that people are so basically good that truth and liberty are all you need to move forward. A humble guy who sees perfection as pretentious and wears his power like a mask. A champion of the little guy who takes guilty pleasure in turning the tables.
That's far more interesting than what we usually get, but Wonder Woman gets its worse. She's this weird demigod bondage queen Buddha, a semi-divine mother-maiden of infinite grace, understanding, and insight. She is the messiah, who loves you and forgives you, and the greatest tragedy in the world is your refusal to accept that love; to accept that you might be worthy of it. But you are, and if you could just submit to the truth of your own beauty, you would never know suffering again. Such is the land of Paradise, where one utopian island set aside fear and hate and became immortal.
Instead we just get bland Superman with tits, who transforms into Red Sonja whenever Superman's in the room so we don't mix the two up.
