>>105131587Both have their pros and cons-
>Marvel-Punisher can be interchanged with any theater of war, Korea, Nam, Iraq, etc.
-Captain America only works with the idealism of WWII and "the greatest generation"
-Spiderverse showed how Spiderman is timeless and also how Peter Parker is not, was a good dichotomy of how the origin of loss works across time.
-Thor can be adapted since he is a god, and therefore however we want him to be perceived in time, macho king in 90s, badass return after Civil War, Unworthy to give it to a woman in todays world
-Fantastic Four is dated, and doesnt represent the typical family unit in the world, the Incredibles 1&2 were a slightly better representation and even that took place in the 60s (i love doomwank as much as the next guy so hope MCU does them all justice)
>DC -Batman works with the right update, Gotham was essentially Chicago in Nolanverse and it resonated well. The Bat Mantle where its a symbol to avenge loss has helped the legacy.
-Superman does not, I liked the Snyder Messiah take, but it was too far a stretch for people even though its literally the Moses story in comic form.
-Green Arrow is robin hood, base messaging is timeless for normies, even though Robin Hood has lost its appeal
-Martian Manhunter is better than Cyborg for a relatable loss of humanity which I find funny
