Maybe firebending could become obsolete, depending on how much fine control is possible. The other three would be extremely useful for any sort of physical work.

Is that the premise?
The plots of these comics were really dull under Gene Yang, I was hoping they’d improve.
I’m so tired of people getting uppity about industrialisation and different nationalities living together and forgetting spiritual practices and shit. If there isn’t an interesting story to tell in the setting any more, maybe they should just stop.

The idea that 100 years passed and there was a technological breakthrough convinced me, but the amount of retcons that they put together with the protagonist herself receiving an evolutionary restart in her character in each season ended up generating more rejection than acceptance.
TLOK has many argumentative problems, but the design of the characters was precise to inspire me.

retcons like what though? I mean, the Wan stuff is less of a retcon and more of a "this is the actual explanation" sort of thing. It is kinda silyl to assume Roku knew everything there is to know about the Avatar. And even then there's evidence that they did add to the power Raava had, since Raava was a lot bigger in Korra's time compared to when she first merged with Wan. And then when she and Korra fused again she was massive since Vaatu was defeated. And I think you might be misremembering because Korra's development continued throughout the show. Sure in Season 2 she wasn't quite as different from Season 1, but she really did grow into a much more mature character by Season 4. There's no way the Korra from the first episode would have talked Kuvira down instead of just punching her to oblivion.

It’s not that it’s a bad premise, it’s that they’re telling the same story over and over and it’s getting boring.

They're pegged as the official continuation overseen by the creators but written and illustrated by other people.
Personally, I don't consider any material 1. Not directly authored by the original author/producer/director/group and 2. Not made in the same media format as the original to be canon to the original.

I was reading up on the histories of previous Avatar's and something interesting stood out to me about this guy. He died at the age of 35 in time where everything was said to be peaceful. So what do you think killed him? We know he lost his love to the face stealer, so did he kill himself? Can Avatar's kill themselves?

To be honest, the concept of city-state inspired me more in Fallout New Vegas than in TLOK, since I did something similar in my second novella but with an eighties theme, and in all kinds; the music, the lights, the entertainment, the clothes.
