>>105029058>A huge reason is the cast change. People seem to really love the original cast, and having most of the original cast either dead or not relevant can be quite a turn off. How many people gasped and cheered at the re-emergence of Toph for book 4? How many people hated having the past lives (Aang in particular) and their connection to the Avatar destroyed?I feel like this is right, but for the wrong reasons
I'd be more open to Korra if she was nearly as competent, or if their team was nearly as competent, as the original
It's just so boring to see a character struggle for so long and only work a problem out due to a fluke or a system that betrays everything we know about the established rules
Having toph back honestly wasn't a good thing because at that point her character was ruined. Yeah it's a cool call back, but at the end of the day, having Toph back didn't actually improve the show in any way--Same with Zuko and Iroh, and it probably would have been the same with anyone
The destruction of past lives was probably as close to nostalgia rage as possible, but really it's more of the fact that the character fucked up to this degree despite not once actually learning anything
Like, all this fucking progress destroyed and you want me to be happy for her because she saves the day and gets to be her own person, make me like Korra first before destroying a bunch of the stuff about the original series that I actually like
And yeah, that last bit you did cover in a different paragraph, we are not invested in anything team Korra has to offer
All the relationship bullshit doesn't mean anything because it started in the first season, went to shit in the first season, and it basically defined the character interactions from that point on
All of the character growth means nothing we the characters aren't on screen for 5 episodes (not that there is much growth besides new powers)
so on and so forth
