Harry Potter is actually a really bad example though, because its characters heavily skewed male, especially its important and complex characters. All the major roles were male, and then one "female sidekick."
If you want to look at fandoms for things with an actual mix of both male and female characters, look at: the two Avatar cartoon shows, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, the original Teen Titans, Kim Possible, Game of Thrones, Adventure Time, Once Upon a Time, The Walking Dead (to some extent), Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
And things that are female character heavy: Steven Universe, "unmentionable equine show," She-Ra, tons of anime like Sailor Moon especially other magical girl shows.
When you look at the fandoms for these shows, including the fangirls, they often (not always though) look different.
